VinFast starts accepting pre-orders for its first EVs in India
Starting Tuesday, 15 July, VinFast began securing reservations for the VF 6 and VF 7 at its showrooms across India and through its local consumer website. The company asks for a fully refundable deposit of 21,000 rupees (211 euros) for the pre-bookings.
Weeks before launch, VinFast has inked a deal with 13 prominent dealer groups to set up 32 dealerships across 27 cities in India. Most of these dealer partners operate in the southern part of the country. VinFast plans to open showrooms in some of India’s biggest and emerging cities in the first phase, including Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune, Surat, and more.
VinFast recently also appointed local partners for various after-sales services in India, including Global Assure for 24/7 roadside assistance, dedicated call centre support, and mobile service; and myTVS and RoadGrid for a nationwide charging network and service network. Additionally, it has tied up with BatX Energies to sustainably recycle and repurpose the traction batteries of its EVs.
“The VF 6 and VF 7 represent our vision of bringing world-class EVs tailored to local needs, and we’re confident that Indian customers will find these models not only competitive, but truly inspiring,” VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau said on the pre-booking announcement. VinFast plans to offer the VF 6 and VF 7 with Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, connected car functions, panoramic sunroof, and various other premium features trending in the Indian market.
Before announcing the prices of the VF 6 and VF 7 next month, VinFast will commence with local assembly at its first factory in India, located in Thoothukudi, a port city in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Local reports suggest the company will import these EVs from its mother plant in Hải Phòng, Vietnam, in completely knocked-down (CKD) kits for local assembly.
