Uber to start electrifying fleet in India with 25,000 Tata BEVs
Ride-hailing company Uber will introduce 25,000 electric cars in India over the next three years through its platform. A memorandum of understanding signed with Tata Motors envisages the phased delivery of 25,000 units of Tata’s Xpres-T EV electric car from this month.

India: Tata scores large orders for e-buses and Expres EVs
Tata Motors announced today that Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) signed a definitive agreement to launch 921 electric buses in the city of Bengaluru. The Tata subsidiary TML Smart City Mobility Solutions will operate the e-buses for 12 years.

Tata Motors wins tenders for 2,000 e-buses, again
Tata Motors has received two major orders for electric buses in India, following an earlier purchase from the Delhi Transport Corporation. The West Bengal Transport Corporation and the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation expect a total of 2,000 electric buses.

15,000 charging stations to roll out in India
In India, the EV charging infrastructure company Evre and parking solutions brand Park+ have announced their partnership to install 10,000 EV charging stations within two years. In a separate deal, the state-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) plans to commission 5,000 electric vehicle charging stations over the next three years.

Electric superbike by Emflux to hit India with full force
Indian startup Emflux is at the Auto Expo with its first electric motorcycle. A superbike, it says, that accelerates fast while offering a range of up to 200 km. On sale is set for 2019 and Emflux also plans to set up fast-chargers across India and Europe.

Diesel ban in Cologne: The city at the Rhine river joins the growing number of cities that will prevent diesel vehicles from entering. Cologne however goes a bit further and announced that not only diesel but all petrol-driven cars are a thing of the past and must expect to be banned too, in the long-term. Details on measures will be published this summer but the head of the city’s department of environment, Harald Rau, said a congestion charge could be implemented in less than three years.

EV initiative in NY: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a new campaign that includes the installation of charging stations, incentives for employers to encourage employees to drive EVs and public education. The projects will start immediately and will include 450 charging stations.

BYD launch in Korea: The Chinese manufacturer presented eBUS-12 for the first time in Korea. The electric bus has a range of 250 km thanks to its lithium-iron phosphate battery, which is said to last for 4,000 charge cycles rather than the usual 1,500. More than 50 major bus operators attended the launch.
