Microlino now available to rent from Europcar
While it’s one of the first times a major European rental company has offered the Microlino, it’s not the first time the Swiss two-seater has been made available to rent. In March 2024, Madrid-based distributor Astara began offering it on their car share service for €0.17 per minute or €11 per hour in the city. Since July 2023, Astara has also offered the Microlino across Spain on a monthly subscription: €430 per month for 18 months, inclusive of insurance, maintenance and tazxes.
What’s different this time is that Swiss Europcar customers will be able to rent the Microlino through the same portal as their other vehicles, and at CHF 39.90 (€42.80) per day for the vehicle, electricity and unlimited mileage, it should stand out as an ultra-affordable option for those looking for urban transportation.
Those who already own a Microlino will also now qualify for exclusive discounts on Europcar rentals worldwide. According to the Europcar website, this amounts to a discount of 15 per cent on rental cars and vans. Microlino itself has described the partnership as ‘the perfect way to discover a new kind of urban driving’: “It’s the perfect way to discover a new kind of urban driving – hassle-free, commitment-free, and full of fun. Fully electric, space-saving, and agile, the Microlino is ideal for narrow streets, tight parking spaces, and short distances.”
Hendrik Lütjens, Managing Director of Europcar Switzerland, commented: “With the Microlino, we’re offering our customers in urban areas a new, attractive and sustainable mobility option.”
In terms of spec, the light electric vehicle offers a range of 177 km, a top speed of 90 km/h and a boot capacity of 230 litres. The Microlino has been designed for cities but can be driven on any road, including motorways. There’s no word yet on whether Europcar plans to offer the Microlino outside of Zurich and Bern.
