VWCV expands e-Transporter model range
The additions include the Transporter dropside with double cab and large load platform, the Transporter panel van Plus for combined goods and passenger transport, and a panel van based on the panel van Plus with so-called L-partition in the load compartment. All three can be ordered with either diesel or electric drive, while the panel vans are also available as plug-in hybrids.
A closer look at the new variants: the Dropside with double cab is a long-standing classic in the Transporter range and, according to VWCV, “this model is extremely successful, especially in the construction industry, including road construction, as well as in forestry and horticulture.” The variant always comes with the long wheelbase. Behind the double cab with a double passenger seat in the front and a three-seat bench in the second row lies the 2.17-metre-long and 1.95-metre-wide load bed – about 4.2 square metres. VWCV quotes a load sill between 95.6 and 98 centimetres, with fold-down aluminium side walls fitted as standard. Customers can also order the dropside without the bed to fit their individual body on the chassis.
The electric version always comes with the 64-kWh battery, paired with a choice of three output levels: 100 kW, 160 kW or 210 kW. VWCV has not yet disclosed the range. Payload for the electric version is up to 785 kilograms, towing capacity up to 2,000 kilograms. Prices for the e-Transporter in this configuration start at €52,208 net (€62,127.52 gross).

The panel van Plus features a single front row with one or two passenger seats and a three-seat bench directly behind – offering five or six seats in total. Behind a plastic partition with a window is the load area, making this variant suitable for both goods and passenger transport. A sliding door on the passenger side is standard, with a second sliding door on the driver’s side available as an option.
The e-Transporter panel van Plus starts at €51,585 net (€61,386.15 gross). Unlike the Dropside, it comes as standard with the short 3.10-metre wheelbase, while the 3.50-metre long wheelbase is optional. The 64 kWh battery is installed in the floor, and both wheelbase options are available with all three output levels. Depending on the specification, the EV has a range between 279 and 353 kilometres.
The panel van with L-partition is based on the latter. Also aimed at the combined transport of goods and passengers, it differs in its interior layout. Instead of a three-seat bench in the second row, it has two individual seats, allowing the load space on the driver’s side to extend up to the front seats – ideal for carrying longer items. In this version, the partition is metal. Capacity drops to four or five occupants. This variant always comes with two sliding doors, which include a window on the passenger side.
Drive options match those of the panel van Plus: the L-partition variant also comes with the 64 kWh battery, two wheelbase options and all three output levels. Prices start at €52,740 net (€62,760.60 gross).
The panel van range now includes the “standard” panel van, a high-roof version, the panel van Plus and the L-partition model – in some cases offered in two or three trim lines. The Dropside with double cab is available in a single trim line, alongside the already available e-Transporter Kombi (in two trims) and the e-Caravelle (from €66,021.20 gross), which is aimed more at private customers.
The new generation is no longer an in-house development from VWCV’s Hanover base, but the result of a cooperation with Ford Pro. The e-Transporter shares its platform with the Ford e-Transit Custom and, like its sibling, is built in Kocaeli, Turkey. The first e-Transporter variants were handed over to customers in February.
