Fiat opens its UK order books for the Grande Panda
The new Fiat Grande Panda will actually hit the stores a little earlier, as dealers will be displaying the car on a nationwide tour taking place between 4 September and 11 October. For customers, November remains the more interesting date, as deliveries are scheduled for then.
Fiat is making the new version of the Grande Panda available as both a BEV and a mild hybrid, with the hybrid running on a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a 21 kW electric motor. The electric Grande Panda, meanwhile, runs on a 44 kWh battery and an electric drive that delivers 83kW for a range of up to 199 miles. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 11 seconds. The electric Grande Panda can be charged with up to 100 kW on a DC fast charging station.
The Grande Panda was first presented in July 2024, and is 3.99 metres long, 1.57 metres high and 1.76 metres wide. There is space for up to five passengers, and the boot has a capacity of 361 litres. The small car is technically based on the CMP Smart Car platform.
The electric model has yet to qualify for the government’s new Electric Car Grant scheme, but Fiat has reinstated its own subsidy, cutting the car’s price by £1,500. A price was also announced at the beginning of the year; however, at £20,975, the price was below the now-announced on-the-road price of £21,035.
Giuseppe Cava, managing director of Fiat UK, states that customer interest in the vehicle has been high: “The several thousand registrations of interest on our website suggest that Grande Panda has already struck a chord with UK drivers, and we’re really looking forward to the preview tour starting.”
