VECV and Jio-bp Pulse team up on commercial EV charging
In essence, the agreement will give VECV customers access to Jio-bp’s network of more than 6000 DC fast charging points across India. In practice, it means that Eicher customers who use Eicher trucks or buses in their commercial fleets will now have access to Jio-bp fast-charging across a range of urban centres, highways, and EV hubs.
As part of the agreement, Jio-bp’s charging network will now be visible within VECV’s ‘My Eicher’ fleet management app, allowing fleet managers to monitor charger locations and real-time availability. This will reportedly be the first time that public charging network discoverability has been integrated into the Eicher fleet management app.
The MoU has provision for further collaboration beyond this in future; Business Standard reports it will also see VECV and Jio-bp Pulse evaluate depot-level charging solutions and “bespoke infrastructure projects” aimed at large commercial fleets, although these would be based on separate agreements.
Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV, said: “By integrating Jio-bp pulse’s extensive charging network into our My Eicher app, we are resolving a critical barrier to electric fleet adoption by facilitating seamless access to high-power chargers wherever our vehicles operate.”
Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, said, “Collaboration between Jio-bp and VECV represents a significant step forward in our vision to transform India’s mobility landscape. Electric mobility is a cornerstone of this transformation, and this partnership plays a pivotal role in electrifying the critical trucking sector and driving EV adoption among fleet operators.”
For reference: Jio-bp pulse is the electromobility arm of Reliance BP Mobility Limited, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and BP. It combines Reliance Jio’s digital ecosystem with BP’s charging acumen, and aims to double its number of charging points by the end of the 2025.
