Tesla achieves new delivery record

In the second quarter, the situation at Tesla was still looking dire, with production declining and deliveries falling below 400,000 units. Things are looking up for Tesla in Q3, with the electric car manufacturer even approaching 500,000 deliveries again.

Specifically, Tesla built 447,450 electric cars between the beginning of July and the end of September and even delivered 497,099 vehicles – with the latter figure, Tesla has even set a new record, previously standing at 495,570 deliveries in Q4 2024. This was made possible by a large inventory from previous quarters: in Q2, 26,122 more Teslas were built than delivered, and in Q1, there was a surplus of 25,934 units. In total, that is nearly exactly the number of additional vehicles that Tesla delivered in the third quarter.

And while the first half of the year remained well below the previous year in terms of both production and deliveries, Tesla’s Q3 figures now mean that it can at least top the figures from the same quarter last year in terms of deliveries: Production currently remains slightly below the 469,796 Teslas built in Q3 2024, but at that time more cars were built than delivered (462,890 deliveries). In the third quarter of 2025, however, Tesla is once again approaching half a million customer deliveries.

It is striking that the significance of the large models remains virtually constant at a low level. With 435,826 Model 3/Y cars built and 481,166 delivered, the vast majority (as before) are accounted for by the two mid-range models. The ‘other’ series, i.e. the Model S, Model X and, above all, the Cybertruck, account for 11,624 units produced and 15,933 units delivered. In Q2, over 13,400 units were built, and in Q1, the figure was as high as 17,161. It comes as no surprise that the Model S and X, which have been modernised with facelifts, are experiencing declining demand. But the Cybertruck, which was expensive to develop and long hyped, is still not achieving good sales figures.

In addition to vehicles and record deliveries, Tesla also mentions the installation of energy storage products in its traditionally brief announcement. The company delivered 12.5 GWh of home storage and large commercial batteries in the third quarter, which also marks a new record in the company’s history. Tesla will publish its third-quarter financial results on 22 October, revealing how all this is reflected in its revenue and profit statistics.
