It already became known in June that Silence’s parent company Acciona and Nissan will begin trialling battery swap stations in France. The rollout mirrors the network already established in Spain, where Silence operates over 160 swap stations. In France, Silence’s first 14 battery swap stations are located in Paris and the surrounding metropolitan area, with further expansion planned across the French Riviera, including Nice and Cannes, before the end of 2025.

Silence’s ecosystem supports both two- and four-wheeled EVs with a standard removable trolley-style battery system, allowing users to access the same infrastructure.

Most stations are located at Esso service stations through a partnership that facilitates user access, while additional locations include strategic car parks and Silence’s own dealership spaces in Paris. The French facilities allow users to exchange a depleted battery for a fully charged unit in around 30 seconds.

Alongside the stations, Silence is introducing its monthly battery subscription in France, a model already available in Spain. “When purchasing a Silence vehicle without batteries, the cost is reduced by around 30%, without user concerns about technological obsolescence or battery maintenance,” the company explains. Each subscription covers 12 battery cycles. In case of the company’s NanoCar S04, that is “equivalent to more than 1,500 km” of range.
