Pakistan receives 400 electric buses from Yutong
Specifically, the buses have been delivered to Punjab Province, which is gradually rolling out the vehicles on public transport routes across 19 different cities and districts. The models delivered include the E12PRO and E9 buses.
Yutong states it has customised the buses in order to fit the “specific operating conditions” of Pakistan; this includes a Nitrogen Protection System for buses’ traction batteries to reduce the risk of cell fire in the summer heat, as well as a dual middle door design for the E12PRO models in order to increase the passenger flow and boarding efficiency. Yutong adds that the E12PRO “also adopts a differentiated seating layout with separate front and rear sections to balance passenger capacity with local habits”.
In terms of servicing, Yutong says it employs a team of 56 people, both Chinese and local, to provide a direct service model via 8 service outlets plus a mobile team. The company claims it has also provided more than 80 service training sessions to over 1000 participants in Pakistan.
In a statement, the electric bus company said: “The deployment of these 400 electric buses is expected to create over 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in fields such as driving, maintenance, and vehicle cleaning, further promoting local economic and social development.”
