Genesis expands into Italy as its fourth European market

Following its European launch in 2021 in Germany, the UK, and Switzerland, Hyundai's premium brand Genesis is now expanding its business into Italy with the three BEV models, Genesis GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80. Additionally, further expansion into France, Spain, and the Netherlands is set to follow soon.

According to the premium brand of the Hyundai Group, the electric trio will be available in Italy from the market launch. The Genesis GV60 is a recently updated compact SUV, the Electrified GV70 is a larger flagship SUV, and the Electrified G80 is a luxury sedan and the most comprehensively equipped Genesis model in Europe. The models will be distributed through a “curated retail business model, prioritising brand presence in key locations.” The first two dealerships are set to open this spring, in Rome and Padua, with more to follow, as the South Korean company announced, alongside a “comprehensive service network.”

Peter Kronschnabl, Managing Director of Genesis Motor Europe since this summer, commented: “Genesis is an exciting brand with strong foundations, and we are committed to expanding our presence in Europe over the long term. We are delighted to introduce the brand in Italy today, a market renowned for its tradition, outstanding design, and high customer expectations of premium brands.”

Genesis is headquartered in Seoul and was introduced to Europe in 2021, with the Hyundai subsidiary operating from Frankfurt am Main, Germany. To date, the brand has been active in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK. Following the expansion into Italy, three additional major markets are set to follow this year: France, Spain, and the Netherlands.
