Mercedes delivers first eActros 600 in Chile
Mercedes-Benz Trucks launched the eActros 600 in Chile last year and has now delivered the first unit to Empresas Cavalier. The transport company will deploy the battery-electric truck to carry beverages along the Santiago–Viña del Mar route in the Valparaíso region. With a range of 500 kilometres, the truck can complete the route without requiring charging stops outside the depot, Mercedes-Benz Trucks states. Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas (CCU), one of the largest beverage producers in Chile and South America and a client of Cavalier, played a key role in driving the deal.
For Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Chile represents the first target market for the eActros 600 in South America. The local distribution partner Kaufmann S.A. already markets the first-generation eActros 300/400, and the manufacturer has now introduced its flagship battery-electric truck to the country as well.
“Chile is one of the most severely affected regions by climate change and has set ambitious climate protection goals and programs. The country aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050” the German company states. At the same time, Chile is considered one of the most promising markets for renewable energy globally. “Solar and wind power already account for a large share of the country’s energy supply today.”
One thing is clear: before reaching its destination in Chile, the eActros 600 must undertake a long journey. The model series has been produced at the German plant in Wörth since the end of November 2024 and is already on the road in over 15 European countries.
