Schneider National completes charging depot to power e-truck fleet
US logistics company Schneider National has announced the completion of a huge charging depot at its South El Monte Intermodal Operations Center in Southern California. The facility will support Schneider’s nearly 100 zero-emission trucks currently on order with Freightliner.

Daimler Buses to produce e-buses in France
Daimler Buses will also produce its eCitaro electric bus in France in the first quarter of 2024. The German manufacturer will invest around 50 million euros in the French location of Ligny-en-Barrois by 2030 for this purpose.

Drum roll for Mercedes eCitaro with FC range extender

Bremen expands electric bus fleet with 35 eCitaro G
Bremen public transport operator Bremer Straßenbahn AG (BSAG) is procuring 50 more electric buses. Mercedes-Benz (EvoBus) has received an order from BSAG for 35 new fully electric articulated eCitaro G buses, while another 15 iebus18 models were ordered from Irizar.

USA: Daimler Truck launches new electric truck brand Rizon
Daimler Truck announced a new brand for medium-duty electric trucks in the US called Rizon. Production start and first deliveries are scheduled for later this year. The company also announced a new joint venture for setting up charging and H2 fuelling stations for medium- and heavy-duty trucks in the country.

Qbuzz and OV-bureau order 35 Mercedes eCitaro G
The Dutch public transport operators Qbuzz and OV-bureau Groningen Drenthe have placed an order with Daimler Buses for the construction of a total of 35 fully electric articulated Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G buses. According to the contract, deliveries are to be completed by 2026.

Food delivery company US Foods is adding 30 electric trucks to its fleet this year. These will be used around the company’s distribution centre in La Mirada, California. US Foods has already taken delivery of its first electric truck, an eCascadia from the Daimler truck US brand Freightliner.

Oregon researchers work with Daimler on H2 fuel cell trucks
In the USA, researchers at Oregon State University are working with Daimler Truck North America to develop a hydrogen fuel cell-powered heavy-duty truck for regional and long-distance transport. Developed as part of Daimler’s “SuperTruck” project, the tractor is expected to provide ranges of 600 miles (965 kilometres).
