Daimler shows off new applications of eActros at the IAA

Mercedes-Benz Trucks presented a range of new applications for the battery-electric eActros currently on display in Hanover. Presentations included using the eActros as a semitrailer tractor and an electric auxiliary drive solution, for example for skip and roll-off tippers.

Bosch starts making drives for light commercial EVs

Bosch is putting a new electric drive for vans and small and medium-sized trucks into series production. The new drive unit consists of an electric motor plus an integrated inverter. The German automotive supplier already has Daimler Truck as a launch customer.

Fuso presents new generation of eCanter light truck

Daimler truck subsidiary Fuso is unveiling the next generation of the all-electric eCanter light truck. The new vehicle will be offered in weight classes from 4.25 to 8.55 tons, in addition to the currently available 7.5-tonne truck. The Next Generation eCanter will celebrate its world premiere in Japan.

Series production of the Mercedes-Benz eEconic starts in Germany

Daimler Truck has started series production of the Mercedes-Benz eEconic. The electric special truck for inner-city municipal use is being produced at the Wörth site in the southern Rhineland-Palatinate. The first vehicle from series production will be delivered to the waste management company Urbaser A/S in Denmark before the end of the year.

Volvo Group, Traton & Daimler Truck kickstart CV Charging Europe

Daimler Truck, Traton and the Volvo Group have received regulatory approvals for their electric truck charging joint venture announced last winter. As a result, the three partners have established CV Charging Europe (CVCE), with headquarters in Amsterdam. As suspected, Anja van Niersen, formerly Allego, acts as CEO.

The US food delivery company Sysco has signed a letter of intent with Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) to purchase up to 800 Freightliner eCascadia electric trucks. The first eCascadia delivery is scheduled to arrive at Sysco’s Riverside, California location later this year.

Daimler presents eCascadia for North America

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has now presented the production version of its battery-electric truck model Freightliner eCascadia. Production is set to start later this year at Freightliner’s factory in Portland, Oregon. Freightliner has received around 700 orders for the electric truck so far.

Daimler eActros delivered to DB Schenker and Dachser

Daimler Truck has handed over the first eActros to German logistics companies around five months after Daimler started series production in Germany’s carmaking region of southwestern Germany. DB Schenker will use the eActros 300 to transport palletised consignments in the Leipzig area, while the  Dachser has also taken delivery of another unit.

Mercedes buses with solid-state batteries arrive in Bremen

Daimler Truck has now delivered the first of 20 electric buses with solid-state batteries as ordered by Bremen’s public transport operator BSAG. Another four eCitaro will arrive in Bremen in the coming weeks, while both sides have signed a contract for the delivery of 15 identical buses in 2022.

Australia Post orders 20 Fuso eCanter delivery BEVs

Australia Post continues to green its fleets with the addition of 20 Fuso eCanter trucks. The mail service expects the vans to hit the road in October and says it is among the first clients. Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) launched the eCanter in Australia in April.
