Irizar delivers 10 electric buses to Lithuania

Irizar has delivered ten ie electric buses to Kaunas, the country’s second-largest city. The vehicles will enter service with local operator Kautra in the coming weeks and stem from the latest model generation unveiled in the autumn.

With the delivery of ten XXL battery-electric buses, Kaunas has become the second city in Lithuania, after Klaipėda, to deploy Irizar electric buses. The ie bus is available in three lengths and was most recently unveiled in its latest generation at Busworld Europe 2025 under its new name, the ie bus Efficient.

The series has been on the market since 2014 and has since been updated with improvements such as a more compact motor, more efficient batteries, and a lighter weight thanks to new materials. The 10- and 12-metre versions offer a maximum battery capacity of 510 kWh, while the 18-metre articulated bus can accommodate up to 714 kWh. Irizar now states a range of 350 kilometres for all three models. The centrally mounted synchronous motor delivers a rated output of 185 kW in the two smaller buses and 285 kW in the articulated bus.
