Volvo launches EX30 Cargo variant in the UK
The new model is based on the battery-electric EX30 compact SUV and is available as both EX30 Cargo and EX30 Cross Country Cargo. According to the manufacturer, it was designed to provide ‘additional practicality and load-carrying capability while retaining the comfort, technology and safety of its passenger cars.’
The rear seats have been removed and replaced with a flat load floor and access panel to the lower storage area, resulting in a load capacity of 1,000 litres and a payload of up to 390 kg. A dedicated bulkhead separates the cabin from the cargo area, while modified rear side panels and doors increase usable volume.
The EX30 Cargo also incorporates features designed to support commercial use, including wider-opening rear doors for improved loading access, an integrated cargo work light and additional securing points in the underfloor structure.
The vehicle is produced through a second-stage conversion carried out by Volvo Car UK. The conversion is available for both newly ordered vehicles and existing stock across Model Year 2026 and Model Year 2027 models. The carmaker also emphasised that the Cargo variant ‘continues to meet Volvo’s stringent safety standards’ and has undergone testing to ensure that all safety systems ‘perform as intended’ in the converted configuration.
The EX30 Cargo is available exclusively through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels, with pricing starting from £36,010 on the road. It is offered in Core and Plus trim levels, with the Cross Country variant available in Plus specification.

For MY27, Volvo Car UK will introduce a new P3 Extended Range powertrain delivering 150 hp. This variant is positioned as a lower-power alternative to the P5 version, which produces 200 kW, while still offering an electric range of up to 300 miles. Additional powertrain options include the P8 all-wheel drive system with 315 kW.
“While we are best known for our passenger vehicles, we recognise that business owners and fleets also want the quality, safety and technology that Volvo is renowned for in a compact commercial vehicle too, which is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo,” said Jack Munford, Head of Fleet at Volvo Car UK.
