This new version needs no more wheel ruts to keep the toy cars in place. Instead, the track pieces snap together via magnetic connectors and the vehicles are kept in place using sensors. Drivers steer their racers by app. One charge lasts for about 25 minutes of playtime.
Robot road watch.
In the Congolese capital of Kinshasa, three robots have been tasked with regulating traffic. Built by women engineers, the solar-powered robocops are equipped with cameras, rotating chests and hands fitted with red and green lights. While being literally larger than life, their static nature means they will not replace real cops anytime soon. May the force be with you!

Get on the Green in style.
Mansory has teamed up with Garia to come up with a slightly odd but surely shiny concept to bring to Geneva. The electric Golf cart Currus has a top speed of 37 mph and features a carbon fibre body. A limited edition of seven pieces might cost as much as 50,000 dollars – each.
Mini EVs in China, Detroit Electric.
Reading tip: Mini EVs are pretty big in China, where more than 300,000 of the 100-mile-range vehicles were sold last year alone. Leading manufacturers are the Shifeng Group, which signed responsible for 60,000 sales and Hebei Yogomo Special Vehicle Manufacturing that billed 50,000 sales.
Click tip: Detroit Electric has shown the design of what will become its first flagship store to showcase its SP:01 all-electric sports car. The store features touchscreen displays for customers to configure the EV of their dream (that rings a bell, does it?) and is located next to the facility in Leamington Spa, UK.

James Bond mode.
Tesla has hidden a neat Easter Egg in the Model S dashboard features. The electric car can be transformed (on screen at least) into the submersible Lotus Espirit from the 1977 James Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me.” Can you guess the access code for the “007” feature?
When the Tesla Model S runs out of juice in the middle of nowhere, a driver apparently has to go to great lengths to charge the car. A Chinese man’s direct hook up to an utility pole seems to work, but we highly encourage not to try this yourself. Have a great weekend!

The Apple car obviously does not have “Windows,” but displays, where you swipe away the scenery. It will be powered by Apple´s “Craptic Engine” and can run for no less than 24 minutes on one charge, while U2 singer Bono takes the back seat. Don’t believe us? Watch the video.
On a roll.
It is a quite a handy gadget, we must say. A carry-on sized suitcase that folds out into an electric scooter that can go up to 12 mph. Imagine never being late to a meeting or whisking across a large airport, certain to catch your flight. We are just not sure how airport security will feel about it.
Death doesn't wait.
The hearse named “Madness” in Chicago has over 1,000 hp under the hood and can go from zero to 60 mph in just 2.26 seconds. It is the fasted hearse in the world! Needless to say, with this tuned 1996 Chevy Caprice, you will never be late to your own funeral.

When the battery of his Toyota Camry Hybrid stopped working, an American took the DIY approach instead of spending 4,400 dollars. While testing each cell himself (do not try at home!) he found the problem was with corroded copper connectors, which he wiped with baking soda and vinegar.
Make up your mind.
Being an analyst, Jeff Siegel took the opportunity to take a humorous approach to “Tesla vs. anyone” headlines seemingly written to bring down its market value. How about: “New Model X Doesn’t Fly as Odd-Shaped Doors Suggest. Stock Slips on Major Disappointment.” Sell?!

Move over Tesla.
Apple’s iCar project which is all over the news these days inspired TomoNews to an animation in which the wildest dreams come true. What´s coming up next – an iPlane? Btw: The most important question regarding the iCar can be found in the comments: Will it have Windows?
A Tesla love story.
Joan Gratz, an Academy Award winning director of animated short films, bought a Model S and found it a rather inspiring purchase as she illustrates her EV experience in a book called “My Tesla: A love story of a mouse and her car” – an electrifying read and a true romance, indeed.
Stop the battery burglar.
Apparently stealing and reselling batteries from hybrid vehicle is quite a lucrative business. 14 incidents were reported since November, according to the police in New York City. In each of those cases, the cars were Toyota Camry hybrids and the majority were yellow cabs.
A bite out of the Apple.
Tesla wants the best engineers and has reportedly already hired at least 150 former Apple employees. How did they do it? Well, Elon Musk steps into the interview process for software developers himself, “geeking out” with them and talking about “nerd software coding stuff”.
“It’s the moment of his life,” young Elon Musk says into the camera. He has just taken delivery of a car – not a Tesla but a McLaren F1! At that point, Elon didn’t know he would be getting into the car business himself almost a decade later, and was just about to launch PayPal.

Elon vs. Lisa.
Elon Musk fired back, after Lisa Simpson commented that Musk sure uses up a lot of rocket fuel for someone who promotes electric cars. For those who would like a free lesson in rocket science and see why electric rockets won’t work, just type in @ElonMusk in your twitter search.
