Germany buys electric buses from BYD
German public transport companies Bogestra (Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen) and HCR (Straßenbahn Herne-Castrop-Rauxel) have ordered a total of 22 electric buses from Chinese electric automotive giant BYD (Build Your Dreams). This is the first electric-bus order for BYD from Germany.
Germany funds a further 70 electric buses
The German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMU) is supporting the use of electric buses in a further five cities: Aachen, Bochum, Gelsenkirchen, Duisburg and Offenbach am Main will receive grants totalling €14.3M for the purchase of around 70 electric buses.
Germany releases extra €180M to fund electric buses
The German Ministry for the Environment (BMU) is providing an additional 180 million euros for the purchase of electric buses to select cities exceeding the NOx levels set within the EU. Other towns may also apply for a share of the remaining funds.
