VW plant produces 7,100 electric cars in one week
Volkswagen’s electric car plant in Zwickau set a production record in the week from 7 to 11 November when 7,100 electric cars were produced, more than in any previous week. This means that the plant is close to reaching its maximum capacity.
VW resumes three shift operations in Zwickau
Volkswagen resumed three-shift operations at its MEB plant in Zwickau on Monday. With the start of the Ukraine war, production had been interrupted for around three weeks in March due to disrupted supply chains before restarting on a reduced scale.
Volkswagen halts production due to chip shortage
At Volkswagen Saxony, the assembly lines are at a standstill this week. Due to a lack of semiconductors, about 5,000 vehicles will not be built in Zwickau and Dresden. This includes vehicles from the VW brand, but also Audi and Cupra.
Cupra starts manufacturing the Born in Germany
Cupra is now starting series production of its first all-electric Born model at the Volkswagen plant in Zwickau. With the sales launch in November, Cupra will introduce a new sales strategy with the agency model. In addition, customers will have the option of purchasing the Born by subscription.
Cupra Born to enter serial production in September
Seat has now presented the production version of the Cupra Born. The electric car based on the Group’s MEB platform will go into production at Volkswagen’s Zwickau plant from September this year. The technical data, however, differ slightly from the known MEB models.
Seat announces Cupra Born to release in second half of 2021
As part of a strategy presentation, the Seat brand Cupra has now shown the production version of the electric model based on the Volkswagen Group platform MEB, which was first presented in 2019 as el-Born. The car is scheduled to go into production in Zwickau in the second half of 2021.
Seat is purportedly planning its first MEB EV
Spanish car manufacturer SEAT has tentatively announced their plans for a new MEB electric vehicle slated for release in 2020. Based on the new MEB platform, designed by VW, the car will feature a Modular Electrification Toolkit.
