Volkswagen to upgrade Chemnitz factory
Volkswagen is planning to adjust production at the Chemnitz engine plant in future as part of the transformation to electric mobility. Up to now, only combustion engines have been produced at the plant. At a works meeting, the first eMobility component from Chemnitz was announced.
VW testing first ID.3 electric cars with 150 employees
VW has started the employee fleet for the ID.3 at the vehicle plant in Zwickau, Germany. The first electric cars have now been handed over to test drivers from Zwickau for a stress test in everyday life. In terms of software, however, the test vehicles do not yet correspond to the targeted series status.
11 Alstom battery-electric trains for Germany
In Germany, on behalf of two transit agencies, Alstom will manufacture, supply and maintain eleven Coradia Continental battery-electric trains for regional transport on the Leipzig-Chemnitz line by 2032. The order volume is worth around 100 million euros.
Breakthrough: electric motor entirely 3D-printed
Researchers at the TU Chemnitz have 3D-printed an entire electric motor made of iron, copper and ceramic using the additive manufacturing process. They say it leads to better efficiency of the drives and enables more compact designs at the same time.
