Hydrogen transport route along Rhine-Alps corridor
Seventeen partners want to turn the so-called Rhine-Alps corridor stretching from Rotterdam to Genoa into a purely hydrogen-based transport route – by water, road and rail. The RH₂INE project stands for ‘Rhine Hydrogen Integration Network of Excellence’.

Solar Boeing: Engineers at Boeing Phantom Works have patented an electric airplane with huge solar panel-covered winglets. The shape of these winglets should maximize the amount of solar energy absorbed and theoretically allows the plane to fly “forever.”
Reusable powertrain: Ecotuned Automobile has created the world’s first reusable powertrain system. It has a service life of 1m km, fits over 85 percent of pickup trucks in North America, and can be reused up to five times. Ecotuned has proposed offering a free powertrain conversion alongside a 3-year lease with 700 dollar monthly payments.
Covestro design: Covestro, formerly Bayer MaterialScience, will make their first appearance at the K 2016 in Düsseldorf this October with a new electric car design concept. The contemporary vehicle will feature a front-end free from visible seams as well as new holographic lighting.
Mimicking car: Visual effects company The Mill has created a new vehicle designed to stand in for any car for filming purposes. The Blackbird chassis can be adjusted, and the electric powertrain can be programmed to imitate driving characteristics of other cars. That means carmakers can already film a vehicle in action, before the first prototype is ready.
