Kia EV2 launches at €26,600
The new entry-level electric vehicle from Kia made its world premiere at the motor show in Brussels in January. The battery-electric compact SUV is available with two battery options, offering ranges of up to 317 and 448 kilometres, respectively. All technical details about the vehicle, including the 42.2 and 61 kWh batteries and their charging performance, can be found in the article covering its premiere.
With the start of orders in Germany, Kia has now announced the first prices for the EV2. The familiar Kia equipment trio – Air, Earth, and GT-Line – has been expanded at the lower end with a base version called Light. While this model can be ordered from €26,600, deliveries will take some time: “The first models to be delivered, starting in April, will be the Air and Earth versions with the standard battery. From July, all versions with the larger battery, including the top-tier GT-Line, will follow, with the base Light version available from October,” Kia explained. The EV2 is produced at Kia’s European plant in Žilina, Slovakia—making it the second electric vehicle manufactured there, alongside the EV4.
For €26,600, the EV2 Standard Range Light comes with a 42.2 kWh battery and a 108 kW powertrain, delivering up to 317 kilometres of range under the WLTP standard. Standard equipment includes 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, parking sensors all round, a rear-view camera, numerous driver assistance systems, and the ‘ccNC Lite’ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. One notable limitation: according to the German Kia configurator, the base Light model is a four-seater with a fixed rear bench.

Overall, the combination of equipment and powertrain options for the EV2 is somewhat complex, so here’s a brief overview: From the Air trim level upwards, the EV2 becomes a five-seater. With the same powertrain-battery configuration, this model starts at €28,990. Equipped with the larger 61 kWh battery and a 99.5 kW powertrain (delivering up to 453 kilometres of WLTP range), the EV2 Air is priced from €33,490. The Air trim includes features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically folding exterior mirrors, electric windows, an enhanced audio system, automatic climate control, and a battery heater—essential for optimal charging performance in cold weather.
In the Earth trim, the EV2 is currently only available in the German configurator with the smaller 42.2 kWh battery. However, customers can choose between the four-seater (from €31,590) and the five-seater (from €31,290). From the Earth trim upwards, the four-seater features two individual rear seats. The Earth line includes an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, front seat heating, a heated steering wheel, a height-adjustable passenger seat, an inductive smartphone charging pad, and heat-insulating glazing. Due to the additional equipment, the maximum WLTP range is reduced to 308 kilometres.
In the top-tier GT-Line trim, customers can again choose between the four-seater (from €37,190) and the five-seater (from €36,890). However, this trim always comes with the 61 kWh battery, which enables a range of up to 413 kilometres. The GT-Line is Kia’s designation for sporty design accents, featuring 19-inch alloy wheels as standard. Additional highlights include a sports multifunction steering wheel, privacy glass, automatically extending door handles, artificial leather upholstery, and certain exterior design elements in body colour, which are otherwise made of black plastic.

Kia emphasises that the EV2, despite its compact length of just 4.06 metres, offers versatile qualities. For instance, the optional individual rear seats available from the Earth trim can be adjusted longitudinally, and the backrests can be reclined. This allows the boot space to be expanded from 362 litres to up to 403 litres. Additionally, there is a 15-litre frunk under the front bonnet. From the Air trim upwards, the compact EV2 is also available with a tow hitch (with a maximum capacity of 750 kg).
“With the Kia EV2, we are expanding our extensive electric vehicle lineup with a highly important and attractive entry-level model,” says Thomas Djuren, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Kia Deutschland. “With its compact exterior, spacious and flexible interior, distinctive design, and technological features on par with higher vehicle classes, it will appeal to many existing Kia customers as well as new enthusiasts for electric driving and the Kia brand.”
