Daimler Truck completes large electric bus order in Germany
Mercedes-Benz has delivered all 45 electric buses on order with the public transit company VLP in the northeast of Germany. Verkehrsgesellschaft Ludwigslust-Parchim (VLP) has now taken delivery of the last 15 vehicles of a significant order placed in 2019.

Vikingbus orders 31 eCitaro for Denmark
The Danish bus company Vikingbus has ordered 31 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro. These are to be primarily operated in the municipality of Køge, a port city located south of the Danish capital Copenhagen in the east of the island of Sjӕlland.

Wiesbaden receives its 100th electric bus
ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft in Wiesbaden has taken delivery of its 100th Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric bus. The delivery from Daimler Buses is part of an order of 56 units placed three years ago, the order volume of which has since increased to 120 electric buses.

Mercedes buses with solid-state batteries arrive in Bremen
Daimler Truck has now delivered the first of 20 electric buses with solid-state batteries as ordered by Bremen’s public transport operator BSAG. Another four eCitaro will arrive in Bremen in the coming weeks, while both sides have signed a contract for the delivery of 15 identical buses in 2022.

24 new eCitaro on Darmstadt’s roads
The 24 electric buses ordered by the transport company HEAG mobilo about a year ago have now been put into operation in Darmstadt. The battery technology of the 24 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, eleven solo and 13 articulated buses, is based on second-generation nickel-manganese-cobalt cells (NMC).

Polish city of Gdynia orders 24 eCitaro e-buses
Before the end of this year, the Polish port city of Gdynia in the Bay of Gdansk is to receive 24 units of the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro from Daimler Buses. The company has received the first order for fully electric city buses from its European neighbour.

Basel orders 54 eCitaro buses
In Switzerland, Mercedes-Benz has received an order from Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB) for 54 fully electric eCitaro buses. The 38 solo and 16 articulated buses are to be delivered next year.

ÜSTRA factory recycles old eCitaro batteries
The partners of the GUW+ model project are dedicated to the re-use of batteries from electric city buses and will now realise a stationary energy storage system in a rectifier substation of the ÜSTRA based on batteries that were previously used in eCitaro city buses.

Daimler eCitaro G fitted with better battery
Mercedes is now equipping its eCitaro G electric articulated bus with a more powerful generation of lithium-ion batteries. The first eCitaro G of the new type have been delivered to the ÜSTRA transport company in Hanover as part of a major order for a total of 48 eCitaro.

Métropole Rouen Normandie orders 10 eCitaro
The public transport provider in the metropolitan region of north-western France, Métropole Rouen Normandie, has ordered ten electric buses from Daimler. The ten eCitaro are to be delivered this summer and the public transport provider will be utilising different battery technologies for the vehicles.

Daimler recalls eCitaro buses with solid-state batteries
There are issues with the solid-state battery buses Daimler delivered to the city of Wiesbaden in February. The 21 Mercedes-Benz eCitaros have been out of service for a good two weeks as their batteries are undergoing checks due to an insulation fault that could lead to short circuits.

They are the only manufacturer of solid-state batteries for electric vehicles on an industrial scale – and yet they are hardly in the spotlight: French Bolloré subsidiary Blue Solutions developed and commercialised batteries with solid-state electrolyte years ago. Their most prominent customer is Daimler.

Hamburg orders electric buses from Irizar, MAN & Volvo
Hamburg public transport operator Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein (VHH) has completed the tender for a further 32 electric buses. The contracts were awarded to Irizar, MAN and Volvo. Delivery of the new vehicles is scheduled to begin at the end of 2021.

Mercedes eCitaro with solid-state batteries in Bremen
In Germany, Bremer Straßenbahn AG (BSAG) has ordered five Mercedes-Benz eCitaro with solid-state batteries to arrive in early 2022. The scope of supply also includes five permanently installed charging systems, each with an output of 150 kW, as well as three mobile workshop chargers of 40 kW each.

Mercedes to build 92 eCitaro buses for Rennes, France
The French Rennes Métropole municipal association has commissioned the Daimler subsidiary EvoBus to supply 92 eCitaro buses. The 33 solo and 59 articulated fully electric buses shall go into operation successively between 2022 and 2025 in the Breton capital’s STAR bus network.

eCitaoro G to reach 220 km range with solid-state batteries

HEAG mobilo orders 24 eCitaro buses for Darmstadt
In Germany, the Darmstadt transport company HEAG mobilo has ordered 24 eCitaro electric buses from the Daimler subsidiary EvoBus including eleven solo and 13 articulated buses. The fleet should arrive at the Böllenfalltor depot from the third quarter of 2021 and replace older diesel vehicles.

Vienna buses to go electric next year
In Austria, Viennese public transport operator Wiener Linien will launch tenders for 62 purely battery-electric buses and ten hydrogen fuel cell buses next year. The first vehicles included in the tender are to be put in passenger service from 2023. By 2027 at the latest, a total of 82 buses should have alternative drive systems.

Daimler & Volvo join on truck and bus fuel cells
Daimler Truck and the Volvo Group intend to establish a joint venture to develop and build fuel cells for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Although the letter of intent just signed is non-binding, a final agreement is expected to be concluded by the end of the year.

Daimler delivers EVs in Germany and Dublin
The transport company SWEG, headquartered in Lahr in the Black Forest in Germany, will bring the first Mercedes-Benz eCitaro REX from series production to the road. Daimler announced that two new Fuso eCanter that have gone into mail-delivery operation in Dublin.
