Stockholm: Danfoss build hybrid ice breaker
Danfoss Editron is supplying the drive for Stockholm’s first ice-capable hybrid passenger ferry. As the Stockholm-based Waxholmsbolaget ferry will be in service throughout the year, it has been specially designed to operate in waters with an ice layer up to 25 cm thick.
Construction begins for USA’s first hydrogen ferry
In the Bay Ship & Yacht shipyard, the construction for the first fuel cell ferry named Water-Go-Round has begun. The ferry will most likely be completed in September 2019, before it will be used for three months of testing in the San Francisco Bay.

Fuel cell Porsche? Patent applications reveal that Porsche is planning a small Panamera, nicknamed “Pajun” for Panamera Junior, by 2018, powered by batteries as well as fuel cells. The BEV variant will be called Porsche 718, while the FCV would go by the name of Porsche 818.

Meanwhile, Porsche has been spotted testing the upcoming Panamera S E-Hybrid without any camouflage. The 2017 model is expected to hit the showroom next year and is believed to then boast more powerful batteries for more range.

Powered by wind energy, the ferry features 750 kW electric motors and batteries with a capacity of 3,800 kWh.
