Freyr considers building battery plant in Finland
The Norwegian company Freyr is taking the first steps towards the construction of another battery cell factory – this time in Finland. For this, Freyr has signed two non-binding letters of intent with the Finnish Minerals Group and the Finnish city of Vaasa.

British chemical company Johnson Matthey has announced the construction of a new factory for the production of its nickel-rich eLNO cathode materials. This will be built as part of a strategic partnership with Finnish Minerals Group (FMG) in Finland.
Nornickel increases output in Finnish nickel refinery
The Russian mining company Norilsk Nickel – also known as Nornickel – wants to increase production at its nickel refinery in Harjavalta, Finland. Production should increase to 100,000 tonnes per year by 2026 due to the rising demand for battery materials, especially for electric vehicles.
