GAC Aion presents new EV platform ‘AEP 3.0’

GAC Aion, the electric car subsidiary of the Chinese GAC Group, has presented its new vehicle platform AEP 3.0. The new electric car platform is intended to enable more efficient electric cars, particularly sporty vehicles – at least the first model will be at the sporty end of the scale.

GAC-Aion reveals hypercar brand and first model

GAC Aion, the electric car subsidiary of the Chinese GAC Group, has presented its new premium brand Hyper and its first representative Hyper SSR. The model is an all-electric super sports car with gullwing doors and a maximum output of 913 kW.

GAC launches electric drive subsidiary

The Chinese car company GAC Group is investing 2.16 billion yuan (312 million euros) in setting up a subsidiary for the production of electric drive systems. The new subsidiary plans to build production lines with an annual capacity of 400,000 integrated electric drive systems by 2025.

In February, 317,000 New Energy Vehicles were sold in China. Compared to the same month last year, sales increased by 189 per cent. The ratio of plug-in hybrids and battery-electric cars within the NEV category remained nearly constant.

GAC Aion finishes first of two capacity expansions

GAC Aion, the electric car offshoot of China’s GAC Group, has completed the expansion of its existing production facility to an annual capacity of now 200,000 electric cars. When the second plant comes on stream in December, production capacity will rise to 400,000 cars per year.

In China, 412,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) were sold in January 2022. This was 141 per cent higher than in January 2021 for electric cars, plug-in hybrids and fuel cell cars, with battery-electric cars, in particular, making gains.

CALB to expand production capacities by 2025

GAC Aion V charges in 8 minutes

The Chinese car manufacturer GAC plans to launch the Aion V with a graphene battery in September. In a demonstration, the car is said to have managed a charging process from zero to 80 per cent in eight minutes. GAC Aion showcased its super-fast charging technology in two versions, 3C and 6C.
