McLaren electrifies: The CEO of the British sports car manufacturer, Mike Flewitt, announced that within ten years’ time, “all models will be hybrids,” and that he even plays with the thought of offering an all-electric model. Meanwhile, rumour has it that McLaren will present the P13 in Geneva 2015, an entry level sports car for about 210,000 dollars.

BMW all-electric in China: President of BMW China, Karsten Engel, says the i3 will go on sale in September. It will join the Zinoro E1, an all-electric car built by BMW’s Chinese joint venture Brilliance, which can only be rented at the moment. When asked about his plans for China, BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer only said that the carmaker is talking about broadening the Zinoro offer.

BMW talks future: Only after presenting the i8 to the press, the Bavarian carmaker is already thinking about new models in the i-series like a stretched i3 or a van or even an i3 coupé. The BMW i8 might be turned into a roadster already this summer too.

BMW-X5-eDriveBMW X5 eDrive by 2015: The German carmaker released details of its first plug-in hybrid which will incorporate elements from the i-series. The eDrive adds 70 kW which enables the X5 to drive electrically at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour. In French Miramas, journalists could take the BMW for a spin. Its debut is scheduled for November in Los Angeles.

Audi plans electric attack: The German carmaker is aiming to go head-to-head with Tesla with the launch of the all-electric Q8 in 2017. Internally known as Tesla-fighter, the Audi Q8 e-tron’s super batteries are said to give it a range of up to 700 km (about 430 mi). Furthermore, Audi plans to introduce PHEV versions of the A4, A6, A7, A8 as well as Q5, Q6, Q7 with a range of 65 km (40 mi) by 2016.

Super Segway: The Ryno one-wheeled electric motorbike looks as if it is straight from the future. It operates like a segway with the rider leaning forward to speed up and vice versa.
