China marks 6.9 million NEVs sold over 2022

Total sales of New Energy Vehicles in 2022 amounted to 6.887 million units. This is according to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) and represents an increase of 93.4 per cent compared to 2021.

Mercedes doubled EV sales over 2022

Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars delivered 117,800 battery-electric cars in 2022. Thanks to a strong final quarter, the Stuttgart-based company was able to more than double its electric car deliveries compared to the previous year.

A registration application in China has revealed the first pictures and data on the second model of the Smart brand. Next to a modified body, the model will also have an all-wheel drive with a second electric motor, and at least one more battery option.

Mercedes-Benz increases electric car deliveries in Q3

Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars delivered around 30,000 battery-electric vehicles in Q3 2022. That is more than twice as many as in the same period of the previous year. The Group’s sister company Mercedes-Benz Vans delivered an additional 3,300 electric vehicles between July and September.

Smart presents the #1 electric SUV

Smart teams up with DCS and ABB for charging the #1 EV

Mercedes and Geely’s small car brand Smart has turned to ABB and DCS to improve its EV charging offers before launching its first electric car #1. ABB e-mobility gives Smart access to “a one-stop-shop” for chargers and accessories. DCS will oversee app integration, and there’s news about Smart’s own charger.

Mercedes increases plug-in car sales by almost 70%

Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars delivered a total of 227,458 electric cars and plug-in hybrids in 2021, 69.3 per cent more than in the previous year. The majority was taken by plug-in hybrids, including Smart and Mercedes-Benz Vans, as a total of 99,301 BEVs were delivered.

Smart takes the EQ Forfour out of circulation

Smart has taken the EQ Forfour out of its range and now only offers the Smart EQ Fortwo and its convertible version. Production ended in December as a harbinger for the upcoming new start as a joint venture with Geely.

Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Cars sold around 59,000 electrified cars worldwide in Q1/2021, including more than 16,000 fully electric passenger cars. This corresponded to a share of around ten per cent of total sales; in Europe, the share of electric cars and plug-in hybrids in sales even exceeded 25 per cent.

Daimler finds buyer for Hambach factory

The Daimler Group has now officially confirmed that its plant in Hambach, France, is to be sold to Ineos. The British group will take over the plant in the coming weeks after final details have been clarified. A solution has been found for the production of the electric Smart.
