Daimler hybrids with Renault engine: Future hybrid versions of Mercedes’ front-wheel drive models will feature a three-cylinder engine which is being co-developed with Renault. Rear-wheel driven models such as the C and E class which offer more space for the drivetrain will keep their four-cylinder engines.
Wanxiang buys Fisker plant: As part of their acquisition of the Fisker assets, an affiliate of Wanxiang America completed the purchase of Fisker’s Delaware plant. The property was sold for 18 million dollars, the same amount Fisker paid for it in 2010. Wanxiang is still deliberating whether it will use the facility for mass production.

Nissan hybrid SUV teased: Ahead of the New York Auto Show next month, Nissan has released some teaser images of the new Murano. The SUV is believed to come also with a hybrid drivetrain, most likely a combination of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with lithium-ion battery, similar to the Altima Hybrid.
Renault Monte Carlo: Beating teams with cars such as the Nissan Leaf, Tesla Roadster and VW e-Up, Renault has won this year’s zero-emission edition of the iconic Rally Monte Carlo. In total the Renault work’s team with their Zoe walked away with all five medals.
