Audi to step up EV production: German Wirtschaftswoche says it learned that Audi wants to crank out 60,000 units of its Q6 e-tron per year at its facility in Brussel from 2018. That is 10,000 more cars than Tesla Model S sold in 2015. The paper also reports that Audi’s EV could sell for more than 60.000 euros.

Tesla update: In an email to reservation holders, Tesla says it is “currently increasing […] production plans to minimize the wait for [the] Model 3.” One week after the unveiling, the number of reservations surpassed 325,000. Tesla also announced that “in a few weeks,” its Model X can be ordered by everyone – not just reservation holders. Production has been increased to 750 units per week.

Electric buses from Hungary: According to Hungarian media, Italian bus manufacturer Rampini is looking to set up shop in Hungary to build all-electric buses. These will first be sold in Hungary and later across Europe. BYD is allegedly also looking into setting up a e-bus production plant in the country.

Andorra introduces EV incentives: The small principality earmarked 3m euros in grants to be spend over the next three years. Both electric cars and plug-in hybrids can qualify for subsidies of up to 11,000 euros. The programme also includes a scrappage allowance. The goal is to have 500 new EVs or PHEVs on the road by 2019 – impressive, considering Andorra has less than 80,000 inhabitants.

Hard times for diesel ahead? Five German states are calling on the federal government to phase out fuel tax advantages for diesel compared to petrol, but so far, no agreement with other states could be reached. The ministers also proposed an EV quota for manufacturers and asked that the Federal Motor Transport Authority no longer be the only one in charge or emission test, hoping to avoid another VW style scandal.

EVs in Australia: A consortium of companies and organisations, including Tesla, Renault and infrastructure providers, have published the “Path Forward for Electric Vehicles in Australia.” It lists a number of possible incentives like waiving registration fees or allowing priority parking, and says the government needs to push for more charging infrastructure to encourage EV uptake Down Under.
