Lidl is further developing their charging infrastructure. The food discounter has invested 600,000 euros in order to set up 40 charging stations for electric vehicles at 20 locations on the Balearic islands. Fifteen of the stores are on Mallorca.

During business hours, customers will be able to use the charging stations free of charge. It is still unclear, however, when the company will begin construction, or when they intend to be finished.

In August, Lidl also announced their plan to fit 20 of their store locations in Ireland with a total of 40 charging stations. The project is set to be completed within six months. To compare: Austrian Lidl locations already had 32 fast charging stations operating in January. In Germany, the food discounter has twelve stores with charging stations.
