Lidl opened four fast-charging parks at shops in France at the end of last year. Each location has several DC charge points in different power levels and AC chargers. Two more facilities are to follow this year.

Pod Point to install more fast chargers at Lidl
In the UK, Pod Point has just announced that they will be expanding their existing agreement with Lidl stores with the installation 50 more fast chargers than originally envisaged. This means that the total number should soon be 350 fast chargers in total.

Einride introduces next generation electric truck
The Swedish startup Einride has introduced the next generation of its autonomous electric truck T-Pod, making it commercially available worldwide for the first time. The company is relying on a subscription model for this. Initial customers include Lidl Sweden, Oatly, Bridgestone and Northvolt.

Lidl installs fast-chargers across UK stores

Volkwagen’s We Share to use Lidl & Kaufland carparks
Shortly before the launch of its purely electric car sharing service We Share in Berlin at the end of June, Volkswagen entered into a strategic partnership with the Lidl and Kaufland retail chains. This gives the We Share fleet 140 additional charging points.

Lidl to accelerate charging infrastructure in Germany
German discounter Lidl intends to equip around 400 of its branches throughout Germany with charging points within the next 12 months and plans to accelerate the installation to include locations close to highways and in rural areas.

In the beginning, all cars with a valid plaque can enter, but regulations are said to tighten in 2017. 200 kW from 2017? Austrian specialist Kreisel Electric is working on a DC fast-charger with charging capacity of 200 kW, and which uses a battery as buffer storage. The company hopes that by cooperating with infrastructure manufacturers, its charging solution could be implemented as early as next year.

Lidl electrifies: The supermarket chain announced that it will invest 1.2m Swiss francs in setting up charging infrastructure at its stores in Switzerland. Cash for cars: UK carsharing service E-Car club received 500,000 pounds (837,000 dollars) of funding, allowing it to expand its fleet from currently 20 EVs to more than 100 over the course of 2014 and 2015. The fleet currently features the Renault Zoe and Fluence, as well as the Nissan Leaf.
