Mercedes recalls almost 1,700 EQC globally

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 1,696 EQCs worldwide – 571 of them in their native Germany. This affects models from the production period from February to October 2019. A bolt in the front axle differential could break and block the front wheels of the electric car.

Mercedes discovered the problem during internal quality controls. In the event of a bolt fracture, there is also a risk that the transmission housing could be damaged and oil could leak. All affected customers will be notified in writing.

As a precaution, Mercedes for the EQC replaces the entire electric drive train on the front axle. However, this does not affect the eATS, as a spokesman told the German Mercedes-Benz Passion portal. The problem would be limited purely to the differential and the retaining bolts. The workshop stay will last about eight hours. Mercedes will bear the costs for the exchange.
