Katowice orders five Solaris electric buses

Solaris has received another electric bus order from Poland. Katowice’s public transport operator PKM needs five Solaris Urbino 12 electric to complement the ten e-buses already ordered by the capital of Silesia. They are set for delivery in Q2/2021.

The first five electric buses in Katowice are Urbino 18 electric articulated buses. In a few weeks, the second batch of another five vehicles is to be delivered before the 12-metre solo buses that have now been ordered arrive in Katowice in 2021. Solaris estimates the value of the current order at 12.4 million zlotych, or 3.1 million euros. In addition to the vehicles, Solaris will also deliver five wired depot chargers to Silesia.

The Urbino 12 electric is equipped with a 160 kW electric drive. For the batteries, PKM has opted for a configuration with 237 kWh, charged via CCS cable or top-down pantograph. The vehicle has three double doors in the 2+2+2 arrangement.

The passenger compartment, which can accommodate up to 80 passengers (26 of whom are seated), is equipped with air conditioning, a passenger information system and video surveillance. Besides, passengers can charge their mobile devices at their seats via a USB socket.
