In terms of market targets, Polestar aims to sell 40,000 Polestar 2s in South Korea before 2022 is over. Polestar aims to capitalize in the south Asian nation with safety: “We spared no expense in strengthening the safety of the Polestar 2,” according to Ham Jong-sung, managing director of Polestar Korea. “It received five stars from the European New Car Assessment Programme’s safety test and its overall result was higher than any other EV in the world.”

Pricing for the vehicle is set so that buyers can take full advantage of the Korean government subsidy. The subsidy was recently revised by the Environment Ministry, so that only vehicles costing 55 million won or less remain eligible for the full central government subsidy. The vehicle is available in six different colours, at no additional cost, which is apparently exclusive to the Korean market. To compare, in the USA, black is standard and other colors cost an additional $1,200.

Polestar initialled launched deliveries of the Polestar 2 in Europe in 2020, followed by the USA in the summer of 2021. For 2021, Polestar also managed to sell 29,000 electric vehicles around the globe, a number which the company aims to improve this year. By the end of next year, Polestar aims to be present in 30 markets around the world.

Update 23 February 2022:
