Fisker to triple production of the ‘Ocean’

Fisker is aiming to triple production of its Ocean all-electric SUV model from 2024 through contract manufacturer Magna. This is to be prepared for the expected increase in demand as soon as the first examples are on the road.

Production of the Fisker Ocean at the Magna plant in Graz is scheduled to start on 17 November 2022, with the first deliveries taking place shortly thereafter. The plans beyond 2022 are interesting: in 2023, the first full year of production, 50,000 examples of the battery-electric SUV are to be built there.

Henrik Fisker is confident that Magna can increase production of the Ocean to 150,000 vehicles from 2024. Fisker has received more than 40,000 reservations for the Ocean so far and expects up to twice that number of pre-orders by the end of the year. Henrik Fisker stated this in an interview.

Should this scenario come to pass, delivery times would quickly increase. With production starting in mid-November, only a four-digit number of units can be expected for 2022. If 50,000 units are planned for 2023, that would still not be enough to deliver the vehicles within a year, given the 80,000 pre-orders hoped for.

It should be noted, however, that the 40,000 reservations currently mentioned are only reservations – and not binding orders. It remains to be seen how many of the pre-orderers will actually order a copy.

Nevertheless, Henrik Fisker considers himself well-positioned with the timing. “Big carmakers are now working on their second major models, incorporating lessons learned, and many of those will hit the market from 2025,” Fisker said. “Between now and then, we have a chance to get in.”

Fisker had unveiled the production version of the Ocean in the US in November 2021. The electric SUV made its European debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The vehicle will be offered in three versions with two battery types. The basic model uses LFP cells from CATL, while the other versions rely on NMC cells for a longer range.

I thought that Lordstown motors will build their Endurance EV truck there by Foxconn and Fiskers eventually.

In his dreams. He can't keep from spinning stories now.think Fisker is sweating bullets.I challenged him about his delivery schedule for Ultra and Extreme. All he could say was my assumptions were wrong. He's wrong. He wants everyone to believe but his track record suggests otherwise. His hubris is through the roof. He blocked me on Linkedin and basically went off that I was trolling the internet posting negativity about Fisker. All he does is post fluff pieces and tap dances...badly. I suspect he pre-sales are not going well. Why would he berate a potential customer and stockholder? He's no CEO.He slipped in he is raising $250M in a stock sale at market, diluting his stockholders. Sorry I invested with this guy. Very deficient. He's no Musk either.
