The Ioniq 6 SE Standard Range with its 53-kWh battery pack has an MSRP of $41,600, which goes up to $42,715, including the $1,115 delivery charge added to all vehicle purchases, and will be available in “limited quantities this summer”. Dual motor AWD models have a starting MSRP of $49,000 ($50,115 including delivery) and have up to 316 miles of range. Prices top out at $56,100 for the Limited AWD variant, which only has a 270-mile range. The 2023 Ioniq 6 will go on sale this spring at US American Hyundai dealerships.

Hyundai initially had some trouble getting the Ioniq 6 to production and was forced to delay the production start in 2022. The pre-order books opened in Europe in October 2022 then, after Hyundai had finalized the design and technical specs in the summer of that year.

The Ioniq 6 is built on an 800-volt platform and can charge up to 350 kW, includes a battery pre-heater as well as a slew of driving assistance programmes, such as lane keeping assist or a tyre pressure monitoring system and can be maintained via over-the-air updates.

Dual motor AWD models have a starting MSRP of $57,999 and have up to 509 kilometres of range. The range-topping ‘Preferred AWD Long Range’ with the ‘Ultimate’ package tops out at $63,999 but only features a 435 km range. An additional $1,925 Freight and PDI charge will also be added

The Ioniq 6 is scheduled to start arriving at Hyundai dealerships in Canada by Spring.

Update 31 October 2023

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan is seeing price cuts of up to $4,100 in the US for the 2024 model year even though it only launched in this spring. A Hyundai spokesperson confirmed the 2024 Ioniq 6 price reductions to InsideEVs after the news was first reported by Car and Driver.

“For the 2024 model year IONIQ 6, Hyundai launched a repackaged SE Standard Range trim with a starting price of $37,500. Additional minor pricing adjustments were made to other trims because of production efficiencies and scale” the Hyundai representative said.

Tesla 3 has now undercut the Ioniq 6 on pricing by a substantial amount and is a far superior piece of engineering. Those prepared to pay a premium price for the Ioniq 6 shape (which looks very awkward from the rear in the flesh) are far fewer than Hyundai imagined. This is a bit of a panic move, but watch other EV prices fall.
