France adds two Solaris buses to procurement shortlist

Solaris announces that the French Union of Public Purchasing Groups has added two Polish electric bus models to its procurement list. This makes Solaris a potential supplier of electric buses and trolleybuses for public transport projects in France.

The Union des groupements d’achats publics (UGAP) has added the two articulated electric buses Trollino 18 and Urbino 18 electric to its list. Both models are thus available to the transport companies linked to the UGAP without an additional tendering procedure. According to Solaris, the vehicles have been specifically included in the catalogue of the French purchasing group for 24 months – with the possibility of extending the contract.

UGAP recently invited tenders for “Electric-powered public transport vehicles such as minibuses, buses and mini-cars for procurement, variants and implementation of additional services”. Manufacturers were then selected for vehicles in eight categories. For articulated vehicles with electric motors and a length of 17 to 19 metres, Solaris says it received ten bids, of which four were selected. Among them Solaris.

“We are proud to have been awarded UGAP credentials. We are very pleased to be able to offer two models from our extensive portfolio of zero-emission vehicles: the Trollino 18 articulated trolleybus and the Urbino 18 electric articulated bus. France is one of those markets where our company particularly wishes to boost sales activities in the coming years. We therefore appreciate all the more the opportunity to offer our excellent, state-of-the-art products directly,” said Olivier Michard, Solaris board member for sales, after-sales and marketing.
