B-ON to hit the streets in the UK

The StreetScooter successor B-ON is joining forces with International Motors Limited (IML). Starting later this year, the latter will import and distribute B-ON’s all-electric commercial vehicles to the UK.

B-ON has been active in the UK with its own branch. But it is now turning over responsibilities to IML, who will take over sales and aftersales support, warranty execution, and parts distribution. The move should help B-ON reach a wider customer base, as IML has a well-established dealer network in the UK.

“With IM’s well-established network on our side, particularly in cities where electrification is quickly becoming a top priority, we can be the first to offer a low-cost, zero-emission commercial fleet solution for customers,” says Stefan Krause, Founder, Chairman and CEO of B–ON.

Both the company’s electric light commercial vehicles (eLCV) MAX and the larger model GIGA will be available in the UK. Both are available in the trim levels BOX and PURE. The first includes a large cargo box with an integrated rear and side step. The latter “provides just the van’s chassis frame, allowing volume versatility for customised cargo and passenger solutions.”

Moreover, according to a statement published by B-ON, the two companies will “partner in other territories within Europe together.” However, details will only “be announced at a later date.” On top of the UK, IML is also active in Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania (and China, but we can be sure that this won’t be the next country where the two companies will work together).

Meanwhile, B-ON also announced a partnership with EO Charging, “one of the UK’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charger manufacturers.” B-ON customers will be able to purchase EO hardware (including installation and support services) as part of the EV maker’s Electrification-as-a-Service.

B-ON acquired Streetscooter from Deutsche Post in January 2022. At the time, the company was still called Odin Automotive. Initially, production of the vehicles continued at the German Streetscooter plant in Düren with a capacity of 30,000 vehicles per year. Its headquarters are in Luxembourg, and the company is also active with its own branches in Switzerland, Germany, Japan and Latin America.
