Austria boosts EV and charge point subsidies

The Austrian government is increasing purchase premiums and subsidies for charging infrastructure for zero-emission and plug-in hybrid vehicles from 1 July. This includes zero-emission and plug-in hybrid cars, zero-emission heavy and light commercial vehicles, zero-emission buses, and electric two-wheelers – including e-motorbikes, mopeds, e-bikes and e-cargo bikes.

EU approves infrastructure funds in North Germany

The European Commission supports the establishment of charging stations for electric vehicles in Schleswig-Holstein through the German state. At least 1,500 additional charging points are to be created in Germany’s northernmost federal state and up to six bus depots are to be equipped with charging stations.

Together with partner HDI, Mercedes-Benz Bank now offers “comprehensive” insurance cover for hybrid and electric vehicles. The new electric protection module is automatically added to insurance policies for EVs and thus does not incur any additional costs.

Largest utilities in China invest in charging infrastructure

China’s two largest power utilities, State Grid and China Southern Power Grid, are investing heavily in the expansion of charging infrastructure. State Grid plans to provide 2.7 billion yuan this year alone, and China Southern Power Grid plans to provide 25.1 billion yuan within four years.

UK updates EV charging infrastructure grant schemes

In a move resembling the new PiCG policy, the UK Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has confirmed the continuation of all three charging infrastructure schemes. The extension, however, comes with reduced grants but also some broader terms, e.g. the inclusion of charging for larger electric motorbikes.

Allego builds 1,300 more charge points in Flanders

Allego announced another major order from Belgium. Network operator Fluvius has commissioned Allego to install 1,300 additional charging points in Flanders. This is the fourth and final concession under the Flemish CPT (Clean Power for Transport) action plan.
