UK updates EV charging infrastructure grant schemes

In a move resembling the new PiCG policy, the UK Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has confirmed the continuation of all three charging infrastructure schemes. The extension, however, comes with reduced grants but also some broader terms, e.g. the inclusion of charging for larger electric motorbikes.

ABB now covers home charging with Terra AC Wallbox

Until now, ABB used the name Terra for DC charging stations, but now the Swiss company has expanded their range wit the Terra AC Wallbox for charging electric cars at home. The new wall box offers up to 22 kW and is scheduled to be available worldwide from May 2020.

Allego builds 1,300 more charge points in Flanders

Allego announced another major order from Belgium. Network operator Fluvius has commissioned Allego to install 1,300 additional charging points in Flanders. This is the fourth and final concession under the Flemish CPT (Clean Power for Transport) action plan.

Finland increases funding for charge points

This year the Finnish government is providing 5.5 million euros to subsidise new charging points for electric cars. The funding is to be used to create more than 5,000 new charging points at housing estates.

Wallbox shows off bidirectional charger

At the CES this year, the Spanish supplier Wallbox is presenting the Quasar, a bidirectional home charging station for electric vehicles. Quasar will also be compatible with solar and battery storage systems, but sports a price is significantly higher than those of conventional wallboxes.

EV subsidies extended in several US states

Several US American states have launched initiatives to support the electrification of their traffic. Massachusetts and Delaware extended their subsidy programmes, while Ohio is angling to introduce one. California extended traffic benefits to include those driving used EVs.

ABB is expanding its portfolio as the Swiss add a range of wallboxes for AC charging at homes and workplaces. The new range includes a total of 52 types and offers charging at 4.6 to 22 kW. It runs on the Open-Charge-Point-Protokoll (OCPP).
