While the Lucid Air Pure RWD is the carmaker’s most affordable model to date, it still comes with a hefty price tag of 77,400 dollars. But the new base version of the electric sedan has much to offer, such as a 321 kW rear-wheel drive and an EPA range of up to 410 miles (660 kilometres).

It delivers 430 horsepower and can go from zero to 60 mph (about 100 kph) in 4.5 seconds. According to Lucid, the EV can replenish 150 miles of range in about 12 minutes at the DC charger.

“The new Lucid Air Pure RWD has it all; style and technology, range and performance, space and practicality,” says Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid. “I’m delighted that the most accessible Air surpasses the range of any other electric car from any other brand. With a starting price of $77,400, I believe that this new addition to the Lucid Air line-up is the car so many have been waiting for.”

Lucid has already started building the newest version of its flagship EV, which can now be ordered in the US. It could help the carmaker reach its production target of “more than 10,000” EVs for the current year after Lucid lowered it from the previously announced target of 10,000 to 14,000 vehicles in May.

It is not clear if or when the Air Pure RWD will hit the streets in Europe. Meanwhile, the Air Pure AWD, with a price tag of 109,000 euros (about 115,000 US dollars) in Germany, is the cheapest model variant in Europe.

The all-wheel drive costs an extra 5,000 dollars in the US, putting the EV at 82,400 dollars. Lucid recently cut prices across all trim levels by up to 12,550 dollars. Initially, the offer was supposed to run until the end of September. But the configurator still displays the reduced prices.

Lucid says the new RWD model “completes the Air model line-up.” The American EV maker also offers the variants Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Performance, and Sapphire. The latter sells for just under 250,000 dollars.
