Endolla Barcelona hits major charging infrastructure milestone

Endolla Barcelona, the public charging network for electric vehicles in Barcelona managed by the municipal company Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM), has reached the 1,000 charging point mark.

This is not the end of Endolla’s plans, as the company plans to install 2,000 more charging points beginning next year. The capacity of the existing charging stations is also to be increased. There are plans to triple the power of fast chargers on the roads to 160 kW and double the power of AC chargers in BSM car parks to 7.4 kW. According to the operator, the network covers all neighbourhoods in Barcelona and currently generally offers 50 kW DC chargers or 3.7 kW AC connections. However, as part of the densification, fast chargers with up to 160 kW and AC chargers with 7.4 kW are now planned.

The next five years of investment are expected to cost BSM around 15 million euros. Charging stations are not the only focus here, however, as the organisation also plans to introduce battery-swapping points for electric mopeds. According to BSM, “this builds on the pilot project conducted with different electric moped operators in the car parks of BSM Cotxeres de Sarrià, BSM Pl. Navas and BSM Gràcia Motos, part of the European projects of ECOSWAP by EIT Urban Mobility and eCharge4Drivers.”
