New Kia EV6 facelift shows a sharper design

In addition to the first EV3, Kia will soon officially unveil a new EV6 with a refreshed design. The current EV6 turned three years old in March and should retire later in 2024 when the facelifted model goes on sale.

The Kia EV6 is the South Korean automaker’s first dedicated EV. With 800-volt fast-charging capability, bidirectional charging support, a WLTP range of up to 528 km, and a 0-100 kph acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds, the EV6 is an all-rounder. With the upcoming refresh, it should become even more appealing in terms of styling, efficiency, performance, and practicality.

On the sides, the refreshed EV6 will likely sport new alloy wheels, available in 19-, 20-, and 21-inch sizes. At the back, it will feature a tweaked full-width tail light with a slimmer-looking illumination pattern and maybe even a tweaked bumper. As for the interior, no major design overhaul is expected, but Kia may use its new ccNC (connected car Navigation Cockpit) infotainment system.

One of the most significant upgrades in the new Kia EV6 will likely be a new optional battery pack with an energy storage capacity of 84.0 kWh. Expected as a replacement for the current model’s 77.4 kWh battery pack, the new unit should have a higher energy density, meaning its higher energy storage capacity may not lead to a significant bump in the weight. This improvement may allow the new EV6 to deliver up to 6% higher WLTP range of around 560 km.

In the high-performance GT variant, the new EV6 may allow travelling close to 450 km, also according to WLTP. In addition to the approximately 25 km higher range, the top-end variant may boast a slightly lower 0-1 0 kph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds (-0.1 seconds).

The facelifted Kia EV6 will likely go on sale in South Korea towards the middle of 2024. Next, European and North American deliveries are to follow later next year.
