Eight of the 60 E-Tech D have already been delivered and are deployed in the French cities of Blois, Angers, Châteaulin, Rouen and Rennes. According to the logistics company, “the remainder will be gradually distributed during the first quarter of 2025 to 28 of our metropolitan agencies.” The electric trucks will be used for urban, peri-urban or regional journeys.

The E-Tech D is an electric 16-tonne truck with a payload of up to 8.75 tonnes. Depending on customer requirements, various battery configurations can be ordered – with 200 to 565 kWh of energy content. With the latter variant, a range of up to 560 kilometres is possible.

The Renault E-Tech T is a 44-tonne electric truck. It has been rolling off the production line at the French plant in Bourg-en-Bresse since the end of 2023. It is available with four to six battery packs with a capacity of 390 to 540 kWh. According to the manufacturer, a range of up to 300 kilometres is possible with the maximum configuration.

DB Schenker does not specify which configuration it has ordered in either case.

The new purchase also doubles the number of electric trucks operated by DB Schenker France, bringing it to 135 units. The company also states that it has a total of 134 charging points for electric trucks in the country (on top of 142 charging points for electric cars).

DB Schenker France wants to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. The purchase of the new EVs was in part funded by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe). The logistics company also wants to significantly increase the number of HVO (hydrogenated vegetable oil) vehicles in its fleet and already has 65 trucks that run on biogas.

“Our ambition is to play a primary role in low-carbon logistics, and to achieve this we are investing heavily in the right energy mix”, said Frédéric Vallet, Head of Schenker France. “Electric trucks are an integral part of the solution, and I’m very proud of this further step towards achieving our ambitious goals for environmental sustainability”.
