Stellantis partners with Luvly on ‘flat pack’ quadricycles
A Stockholm-based startup, Luvly sells easy-to-assemble electric car that can be shipped as a flat-pack, much in the style of IKEA. Luvly’s first vehicle, the €10,000 (£8800) Luvly 0 quadricycle, can be shipped in individual panels which are then assembled in a location close to customers. The firm claims this can dramatically cuts transportation and energy consumption to 80% less than that of standard EVs.
Weighing less than 400kg, it uses a sandwich composite chassis and two 15kg removable batteries, and comes with an estimated top speed of 56mph and a range of 62 miles. The trunk also has a 267 litre capacity. Overall, it is targeted for urban use, much in the vein of other quadricycles.
Stellantis, which offers cars such as the Citroen Ami, Fiat Topolino and the Opel Rocks Electric, says it wants to examine the viability of this assembly method for potential future use.
Speaking to Zag Daily, Håkan Lutz, CEO of Luvly, said: “The aim of this partnership is to show that we can deliver on our promises.”
He added: “This is the first major commercial partnership with a player as pivotal as Stellantis. If we manage to prove the level of safety and economics of our platform and Stellantis chooses to adopt it, that is a major thing, not only for us, but for the industry.”
Luvly is currently in the process of raising €5m in equity funding in order to continue scaling.
