The American EV maker has set up the Delhi showroom in Aerocity, an upscale commercial district near Indira Gandhi International Airport. It has leased an 8,200 sq. ft. space in the Worldmark 3 building for nine years to house its second retail outlet. Tesla has also leased a 33,000 sq. ft. space in Orchid Business Park, about 20 km south in Gurugram, a neighbouring city in Haryana and part of the National Capital Region (NCR). The company has signed a nine-year agreement for this property as well, and it plans to use this space for delivery and service operations.

Right beneath the Delhi showroom, called ‘Tesla Experience Center Aerocity, Tesla has set up its first Supercharger facility in the city. The company has installed four Superchargers with a maximum output of 250 kW and three Destination Chargers with a maximum output of 11 kW. It is building three more Supercharger outlets for customers in and around Delhi, including one in the Saket area, one in Gurugram, and one in Noida, which is also part of NCR. With its first showroom in Mumbai and the new one in Delhi, Tesla is targeting affluent and progressive customers in India’s western and northern parts, respectively.

The company has no plans to expand its retail presence beyond the country’s two most important metro cities. However, it has confirmed a third location for its Supercharger network – Bengaluru, one of the leading cities in India in EV adoption. “We cannot miss Bangalore (Bengaluru), so we have to do that,” Isabel Fan, Tesla’s Senior Director for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Macau, said at the opening of the second retail outlet.

Tesla launched its Model Y in India last month. The company offers only the new Model Y in the country, in the standard-range RWD and long-range AWD variants, priced at 5.989 million rupees (approx. 58,700 euros) and 6.789 million rupees (approx. 66,600 euros), respectively, both excluding on-road costs. It
imports the EV as a completely built-up unit (CBU) from China and plans to start deliveries in September.
