Hyundai to supply electric buses in Bali
Hyundai will deliver the buses to the Indonesian island, where they will be used by the local public transport system. The order is the product of a successful tender bid by Hyundai Motor, which secured a contract from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to supply electric buses on behalf of the Indonesian government.
The County Electric model has, in fact, only been deployed in the South Korean market until now; launched in 2020, it comes in a mini bus format with between 15 and 33 seats. Hyundai states its 128kWh battery has a range of up to 303km per charge, and that when the battery is empty, it can be fully recharged within 72 minutes using a DC fast charger.
Kim Sung-nam, head of Hyundai Motors Asia-Pacific HQ, said: “It is meaningful that we will provide electric buses to Bali, a destination visited by many tourists from around the world. We plan to help build environmentally friendly transportation systems in major cities across Indonesia.”
Hyundai previously delivered electric buses to Indonesia last year. It supplied the County Electric to Surabaya, Indonesia’s second-largest city, back in November. In 2024, the South Korean automaker also announced partnerships with several charging point operators to install more than 400 EV chargers across Indonesia.
