Thailand: Tesla Model Y L makes its Southeast Asian debut at BIMS 2026
The Model Y L is a three-row derivative of the Model Y aimed at larger families, featuring six seats in a 2+2+2 layout. It has an extended roofline and a new rear spoiler, and Tesla offers it in a new Cosmic Silver colour and uses exclusive 19-inch Machina 2.0 wheels to further distinguish it from the Model Y. The three-row version is slightly bigger, too, with a longer and taller body, and it has a drag coefficient of 0.216 (Cd).
Tesla equips the Model Y with power-reclining and folding individual seats in the second row and a power-reclining bench in the third row. Second-row passengers get heating and cooling comfort functions, as well as electrically deploying inner-side armrests.
Passengers can enter the third row through a walk-through space between the second-row seats, where the floor rises, resulting in a higher floor level in the third row. Tesla provides cupholders, C-pillar-mounted AC vents and USB Type-C ports for both third-row passengers. It also includes buttons to fold and raise all the rear seats in the cargo area. The company states a maximum cargo space of 2,539 litres.
Like in Australia and New Zealand, Tesla claims a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 5.0 seconds, a top speed of 201 km/h, and a WLTP range of 681 kilometres. The Chinese-spec version is 0.5 seconds quicker in the 0 to 100 km/h sprint. Like in all three other markets, the company offers the Model Y L in Thailand in only a dual-motor AWD variant, priced at 1.999 million baht (approximately 53,200 euros).
Besides launching the Model Y L, Tesla shared its roadmap for network expansion at the 2026 Bangkok International Motor Show. The company operates five showrooms, 41 Supercharging sites, 15 Destination Charging sites, and five service centres and service express sites in Thailand. This year, it plans to add three showrooms, six Supercharging sites, three Destination Charging sites and three service locations.
