BJEV plans to build 3,000 battery swapping stations
BJEV, the electric car subsidiary of the Chinese manufacturer BAIC, plans to invest ten billion yuan (1.28 billion euros) in the construction of 3,000 battery changing stations. According to BJEV President Ma Fanglie, the goal is to supply half a million electric vehicles with fresh batteries by the end of 2022.
CATL reveals new cell-to-pack platform at IAA
The Chinese battery group CATL has just presented its development plans for cell-to-pack batteries at the IAA in Germany. The new CTP platform is designed to improve the development of battery sets with a pack’s energy density to increase from 180 Wh/kg to 200 Wh/kg.

Porsche in talks with CATL for battery cells
Porsche is apparently negotiating a supply contract for battery cells with CATL. The German sports car manufacturer and the Chinese battery specialist are “in good talks”, said Porsche development director Michael Steiner, who meets regularly with CATL management.
Nio & ProLogium working on solid-state batteries
China’s EV start-up Nio is cooperating with battery cell manufacturer ProLogium of Taiwan to develop solid-state batteries. The short-term goal is a prototype. Whether the longer-term goals can be achieved will probably also depend on the economic situation at Nio.
Akasol marks minor profits for first half of 2019
The German battery system supplier Akasol was able to significantly increase its sales in the first half of the year and has already almost reached the total sales for the 2018 financial year. After a loss of millions in 2018, the company is now in the black – albeit only marginally.
