Cell production for Tesla Model 3 hits 11 GWh
UBS analysts have recently come to the conclusion that Tesla Model 3 cells are by far the most cost-effective. Now latest estimates conclude that over 600 million cells of this type have been produced in Gigafactory 1, thus adding up to a total capacity of just under 11 GWh.

SK Innovation plans massive increase in battery cell production
The battery cell manufacturer SK Innovation plan to increase their global battery cell manufacturing capacity more than ten-fold over the next four years. The news broke only days after SK-customer Daimler announced that they plan to procure battery cells in a volume worth 20 billion euros by 2030.

Hyundai goes full steam ahead on fuel cell systems
The Hyundai Motor Group has presented the roadmap for its “FCEV Vision 2030”. And the roadmap is ambitious: Hyundai and Kia plan to increase their annual production capacity for fuel cell systems from what is currently 3,000 units, up to a whopping 700,000 units by 2030.

Fox plans to revive Mia electric car with Lion battery

The Democratic Republic of Congo has classified cobalt a “strategic” substance, meaning miners will pay nearly three times the royalty rate than before on the key component in electric vehicles batteries. The rate is now at 10 percent, states a government decree.
