No more sitting in traffic jam.

U.S. company Krossblade Aerospace Systems has developed a flying hybrid car concept that takes off and lands vertically. So if there is a traffic jam, it can literally fly past it. And with an alleged flying speed of 300 mph, it is the fastest car-plane out there.,

Need for speed.

An electric golf cart pimped by Plum Quick Motors gets you across golf courses rather quickly. Hitting 118.76 mph, it set a new Guinness world record for fastest golf cart. Just don’t get stuck in sand pit on your way to the finish line!

Rolling submarine.

Normally, electricity and water are a bad combination. But this electric submarine sports car is quite nifty. The cabriolet can swim, dive (you don’t even have to roll up the windows) and of course drive on the street – and it comes with a price tag just shy of two million dollars., (with video)

Head to head.

Lexus again pokes fun at its plug-in cousins. In its newest ad, the company compares its hybrid CT 200h to the all-electric BMW i3 and of course focuses on the shorter driving range of the BEV. Interestingly it appears they used an i3 REx for the video, and photoshopped out the gas filler flap – in most scenes. via

Canyonero Hybrid available.

Springfield’s streets are getting greener, as the fictional Canyonero is now available as a hybrid. The Simpson’s SUV is said to measure 12 yards and weigh 65 tons – therefor the hybrid’s 11 mpg specs are actually not bad at all.

Giant dog.

When his sheepdog passed away, one British shepherd converted his Peugeot into a replica of his dog. Apparently the sheep don’t mind being pushed around by four wheels. The only problem is that this “dog” is too big for his gates.

Cut off.

A Chevy Volt owner in Detroit has had power in her garage cut off by the Homeowners Association. She agreed to pay around 50 dollars, but when the HOA told her that the costs associated with charging her car were too much and presented her a 200 dollar bill, she refused to pay.,

Recalling the recalled.

We have gotten used to write about recalls, but this tops previous reports. Ford is re-recalling nearly 40,000 vehicles in the U.S., to inspect steering shafts that could break and cause loss of steering. Ford said that after making the repairs, it discovered the way it had fixed them was “improper.”,

A group trying to make the EV look bad has sprung to life in Norway. It tells members that the Model S “is harmful to the environment.” Their motto – no one can proof they’re wrong. And if sources are needed, they have found some credible looking ones that they emailed to their followers. It’s all very credible, indeed…

Going out in style.

A British funeral parlour is now offering a special ride to the final resting place – a converted Rolls-Royce Phantom. Sounds like a classy way to make your final journey and leave a lasting final impression.

Gone Golfing.

Not one but eight gas-powered golf carts were stolen from the Hollywood Golf Course in New Jersey, USA. Clearly, the thieves did not just want to go on a spontaneous joy-ride. It seems some golf players will have to walk for a while.

Flying car ahead.

The flying car Aeromobil 3.0 was presented in Vienna, Austria. It needs only 200 meters for take-off and a mere 50 meters for landing. The final price is said to fall “somewhere in between the price of a supercar and a small plane”. Unfortunately it’s not electric.,

Exit through the gift shop.

Tesla is discovering a new way to make money and wants to start selling a whole range of accessories, including luggage, as well as smartphone and tablet covers. All of course with the Tesla logo and just in time for Santa Claus.,

Rebellious EV drivers.

Since Tesla is no longer allowed to even stage drive events in Iowa, Tesla owners from Minnesota took matters into their own hands. They drove to Iowa to show off their privately owned cars to anyone interested.,

Simplify my ride.

X-Tomi Design gave 15 sports cars a new, simpler look. Thanks to digital retouching, we can imagine what a LaFerrari or Porsche 918 Spyder would look like in entry-level edition. But as mothers all over the world keep telling their children – it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

Oct 27, 2014 - 09:18 am

Supply and demand.

Though it was introduced only last, you can already buy a used LaFerrari with just 100 kilometres on its back. A German online portal offers the supercar for merely double the factory price. A steal considering all 499 units available are sold out – the only question is who is stealing from whom?

Mass transportation.

After the stretched Hummer and the stretched Prius, here comes the stretched scooter. It was made by Chinese Lanbei and seats no less than 11 people and is all-electric, of course! Why they build this XXXXXL vehicle and show it all around the country? It could be solution for mass transportation – as long as the destination is just straight ahead.

Sugary sweet EV.

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, Kia must have thought. For the SEMA show in Las Vegas, the Soul EV was transformed into an ice cream support vehicle. That just begs the question: Do they serve Rocky Road?

EVs for big and small.

2015 looks to be a great year for electric mobility and LEGO fans. The McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and LaFerrari will all be available for the little yellow guys (and gals). And all LEGO kits include a wrench, because, well who wouldn’t want to look under the hood?,

Spooky clean.

Ford celebrated Halloween a little early, luring unsuspecting drivers into a car wash that had been slightly redecorated. Among soap bubbles and brushes, some scary creatures are up to no good. We hope you’re not afraid of the dark!

Too modern for bureaucrats.

The third-largest city in Columbia has slammed the breaks on granting a license to an electric bus produced in the country. Why? Because it doesn’t fit in any existing categories in terms of carbon dioxide emission since legally, vehicles that do not emit carbon dioxide do not exist.

Wacky Races.

Elon Musk makes an appearance on yet another American cult cartoon series: South Park. This time, however, he was not the good guy – at first – as he tried to bring down poor Timmy’s ‘Handicar’ ride share programme. Zipcar, Hummer and Lyft get their fair share of satirical bashing too. via

Twizy on ice.

At French La Clusaz, winter fans can enjoy a very special ride this coming cold season, as the ice circuit is open to Renault’s Twizy. Spinning and pirouetting has never been more fun! We wonder when the first tuner will come up with some skate blades for the mini EV.,

Dirty Driving.

Mercedes issued a new spot that might be dubbed as explicit. It shows the coupling of the S-Class Coupé with the Actros Truck, “giving birth” to the Vito. A censored and a voyeur version are available online. Better watch them before the rating agency does. (12A), (18)

Governator downsizes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been spotted checking out Toyota’s i-Road, which is a good deal smaller and possibly nimbler than the vehicles the Terminator turned Governor turned (somewhat) green usually rides. Hasta la vista, baby!

Goodbye #Bendgate.

Many have laughed at Apple’s “Bendgate” misfortune that quickly turned into a PR problem. Did you also accidentally bend your iPhone 6 in your jeans pocket? No problem – check out the new “Panel Press” created by gTool that’s supposed to slowly unbend it back in shape.

Please come this way.

A resourceful retiree had enough of roadworks causing congestion between Bath and Bristol and build his own diversion instead. He opened it up to the public but not without asking tolls. Now, Mike Watts just counted his 100,000th customer, another 50,000 are needed to recover the costs of 300,000 pounds. Keep them coming!

Robot reception.

Meet Ms Aiko Shihara, Toshiba’s robot receptionist which (or is it “who”?) comes with 15 actuators inside its head to make it look more lively. Aiko speaks and signs Japanese. Toshiba plans to show it American sign language soon too. Maybe motels would be interested in the never-tiring android.,

Mouseton electrified.

In Japan, you can now get the Smart fortwo ED as ‘edition Disney’ which is inspired by Mickey Mouse in colour and details. As the conversion was done by Brabus that usually stands for performance, we wonder if Bond-like gadgets were included – after all, Mickey is a detective.

Oct 7, 2014 - 08:26 am

Excessive listing.

What first looked like thinking ahead, proved not to be thought through. Online shopping website, already lists the Tesla Model X among the vehicles you can order accessories for. Selecting Tesla’s future car and exhaust pipes however, yields impressive 186 results. Chrome pipe, anyone?
