Ampaire’s hybrid 9-seater takes to the skies
A nine-seat regional aircraft from the Californian manufacturer Ampaire with a hybrid-electric drive system has completed its maiden flight. The Eco Caravan, based on a Cessna Grand Caravan, has a hybrid propulsion system from Ampaire with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

Surf Air Mobility & Textron to develop hybrid Cessna
The Californian company Surf Air Mobility has signed a purchase agreement with Textron Aviation for 100 Cessna Grand Caravan EXs and secured options for 50 more. Both companies intend to develop and certify a hybrid-electric engine for the aircraft.

Magnix working towards all-electric Cessna Caravan STC
Magnix, a specialist for aeroplane electrification, is working with Sidney Seaplanes and Dante Aeronautical to convert a Cessna to zero-emission drive. The partners want it to become the first all-electric aircraft certified by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Largest electric airplane yet takes off in the USA
The companies magniX and AeroTEC have announced the successful maiden flight of the alleged world’s largest all-electric aircraft, an all-electric Cessna Grand Caravan 208B. The half-hour flight in the US state of Washington went without a hitch.

Maiden flight for the largest hybrid plane to date
US manufacturer Ampaire has announced the take-off of the supposed world’s largest hybrid electric aircraft to date. The Ampaire 337 had its maiden flight in California and is expected to complete commercial flights in two years.
